Aoife Ní Bhriain – Renowned Irish Fiddle Player
March 11, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm EST
In celebration of Irish Heritage Month, Canada Ireland Foundation is pleased to present acclaimed Irish musician Aoife Ni Bhriain together in concert with award-winning Canadian folk-musician Tom Power.
Violinist and fiddle player Aoife Ni Bhriain combines the richness of a family heritage of traditional music and a lifetime of classical music training. Born in Dublin she began studying the violin at an early age winning numerous national and international competitions for both classical and traditional Irish music.
Her unique musical pedigree has led her to experiment, collaborate and perform across many musical genres. She is a board member of the Irish Traditional Music Archives and was the Artist in Residence in the National Concert Hall in Dublin for the 2018/19 season. She has performed for the London production of ‘Come From Away.’
Hailing from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Tom Power is beloved by Canadians as the host of q on CBC Radio. When not on the air, Tom leads his own band, The Dardanelles, who have introduced a new audience to traditional Newfoundland music – playing festivals and theatres around the world. He is also a member of the Polaris Music Prize jury and the CARAS Music advisory committees.
