I was born in Co. Limerick. My family come from the town of Kilmallock, on the border between Cork and Limerick, but I was raised near the small village of Ardpatrick at the foot of the Ballyhoura mountains. It was a fantastic place to grow up and it gave me my love of the outdoors.

I currently live and work in Australia, however I will be moving home to Ireland in the coming months.

I always enjoyed taking pictures and I love hiking and the outdoors, so naturally I gravitated towards landscape photography. As a youngster, I often spent time fishing during the summers and when I would see a nice sunset or something that caught my eye, I wished I had a camera.

In the early stages of my photography journey, I was willing to do anything to get a good image. Often stupidly this meant going out when it was not safe or pushing through an all-night drive when I was sleep deprived. Not smart – but it led to me getting shots I knew nobody else was getting. I became known for the lengths I would go to get an image. I still like to capture my adventures and the fleeting moments that I know may never happen again.

A big highlight for me has been capturing some very unique landscapes in Ireland and elsewhere that I know may never be captured. I like to be good at what I do and put in the hard work to stand out.

I am all about the adverse weather. If I am struggling for motivation, but I know a storm is coming, I get inspired to get back out there with the camera – it is chance to be different and do something that no-one else is doing.

A good photo is something that stops people scrolling for longer than 5 seconds. It should captivate attention and make the viewer think. A good photo has a wow factor.
