BAGPIPES AND BATTLEMENTS

A traditional fusion of bagpipes and battlements will find its way across Scotland as Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival takes to the rustic road, bringing some of Scotland’s finest piping talent to some of the country’s most striking historical landmarks.

Between the 31st July and 4th August, as part of the year of Creative Scotland, The ‘Piping Live! Festival On Tour’ will offer the opportunity to enjoy the best of Scotland’s traditional music captured in iconic historical surroundings. Attendees can even have a go at our national instrument, with sample lessons from some of the world’s greatest pipers.

Striking venues including Culzean Castle and Eilan Donan Castle will play host to a line-up of world renowned pipers, including Glenfiddich Champion Pipe Major Gordon Walker and Dunvegan medal winner Niall Stewart. The stunning Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull will host the talents of top piper Neil Walker and gold medalist Chris Armstrong will take to the battlements of Stirling Castle.

he free events offer a taster of an even fuller programme of world-class piping set to take place at the Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival in Glasgow between the 6th and 12th August.  Now in its 9th year the festival is the biggest of its kind in the world, with thousands of music fans, musicians and pipers from around the globe descending upon Glasgow for the week-long celebration of traditional and modern piping music. Over 150 events including concerts, ceilidhs, come and try sessions, family fun days and competitions will take place in various venues and outdoor spaces across the city throughout the week as part of the festival.
